In brief

One university hospital on a health sciences campus, with its figures printed as of 2019. No accreditation is named on the pages we read, so none is claimed here. It has a sister hospital in the same family: American Hospital Istanbul.

The hospital

What Koç University Hospital is

The hospital says it opened in September 2014 as a training and research hospital. As of 2019 it prints 410 single inpatient rooms, 55 intensive care beds, 23 operating rooms and 44 chemotherapy units, across 50 departments and 13 centres. The Health Sciences Campus is given as 220,000 square meters.

It sits within the Vehbi Koç Foundation's health organisation, Koç Healthcare, which also includes American Hospital Istanbul; the pages we read do not state ownership outright.

International patients

The hospital's international patients link leads to Koç Healthcare rather than to a unit of its own. Koç Healthcare lists representatives in North Macedonia, the USA, Bosnia, Serbia, Kosovo, Montenegro, Albania, Romania, Georgia and Azerbaijan. None is listed in the UK, Germany or the Netherlands.

A discrepancy on its contact page

The contact email shown on the page reads kuhinfo@kuh.ku.edu.tr, but the link behind it opens a message to info@amerikanhastanesi.org. Ask which address reaches the hospital's own team.

Questions to ask

  1. Current accreditation and expiry

ask for the certificate, then find it on the accreditor's own register.[4][5]

  2. Who you contract with

the hospital, the group or an agent — and that entity's health-tourism authorisation.[2][3]

  3. Your named consultant

who operates, and how many of your procedure they perform each year.

  4. A coordinator in your language

a named person, with hours that work from your own country.

  5. Follow-up after you fly home

who you contact, and how your records reach your own doctor.

  6. Every charge, in writing

one itemised quote, with exclusions stated before you commit.

Not yet established

What we are still confirming. We update this page as each is settled.

  • Which accreditations the hospital holds — the pages print general wording only
  • A street address for the hospital — only the Koç Healthcare head office is printed (Nişantaşı), which is the group, not the hospital
  • Capacity figures after 2019
  • Which email address is the hospital's own
  • Health-tourism authorisation and contracting entity
  • Prices and outcome data — none are published

The pages we read name no accreditation. Do not assume one; ask the hospital for the certificate and find it on the register.[4]

They are labelled 2019 on the hospital's own page; ask for current numbers.

Can I see prices?

No prices are published on the pages we read. Ask for one itemised quote, with exclusions, before you commit.
