In brief

Two main hospital buildings on the Asian side, run by Yeditepe University (founded 1996). The JCI story is told two ways on its own pages and names only Koşuyolu; Kozyatağı names no accreditation.

The hospital

What Yeditepe University Hospitals are

Yeditepe University was founded in 1996 and runs its hospitals under the Yeditepe University Hospitals name. Kozyatağı opened on 26 August 2005; Koşuyolu is the second main building. Other units named are a Dental Hospital, an Eye Center, a Genetic Diagnosis Center, a Complementary Medical Center and a Tissue Typing Laboratory.

The hospitals say they have patients from over 100 countries. They print no international patient unit page and no foreign office on the pages we read.

The JCI timeline

The About page says JCI first audited the hospital on 2 November 2007 and that it was "re-accredited for the fifth time in 2020". The JCI page says it was accredited in 2007, renewed in 2010, and met the eighth-edition academic medical centre standards in January 2025, naming only "Koşuyolu Specialized Hospital and Eye Center". These timelines do not match, and neither names Kozyatağı. Treat the claim as applying to Koşuyolu only until the register says otherwise.

Other certificates the hospitals list

ISO 15189:2023 for laboratories; ISO/IEC 27001 since 1 July 2016, re-accredited to the 2022 edition; the TÜSKA SAS Gold, with the recipient written as a "Specialized Practice and Research Center" on one page and "Koşuyolu Hospital" on another; a Baby-Friendly designation in 2009; and a Health Tourism Authorization Certificate in 2020 with no building stated.

Before you book

Questions to ask

  1. Which building will I be treated in, and what accreditation does that building hold?

  2. Current accreditation and expiry

ask for the certificate, then find it on the accreditor's own register.[4][5]

  3. Who you contract with

the hospital, the group or an agent — and that entity's health-tourism authorisation.[2][3]

  4. Your named consultant

who operates, and how many of your procedure they perform each year.

  5. A coordinator in your language

a named person, with hours that work from your own country.

  6. Follow-up after you fly home

who you contact, and how your records reach your own doctor.

  7. Every charge, in writing

one itemised quote, with exclusions stated before you commit.
